KOZHIKODE: Grade SI KK Naushad of Thamarassery station has been suspended in connection with the Shibila murder case. The SI was suspended after it was found that there was a lapse in taking action on the complaint filed by Shibila against her husband Yasir. Shibila's father Abdul Rahman had alleged that the police did not take any action despite filing a complaint against Yasir.

Naushad, who was suspended, is also the PRO of Thamarassery police station. Shibila approached Naushad with a complaint against Yasir. Shibila had revealed to Naushad that Yasir was a friend of Aashiq, an accused in the case of hacking his mother to death. The family complained that the police were not ready to take Shibila's statements seriously or question Yasir. Naushad was suspended on the basis that it was believed that there was a lapse on his part. Shibila's father said that the police did not help in resolving the issue. "When the complaint was filed with the police, both families were called to the station but no action was taken. If action had been taken, my daughter would have been alive. I will file a complaint, including to the Chief Minister, against the police's negligence," Shibila's father had stated.
