'He threatened to kill my daughter several times', we had filed numerous complaints with police, says mother of acid attack victim

KOZHIKODE: The mother of the victim has made further revelations regarding the acid attack carried out by her daughter's former husband. Last week, the accused Prasanth arrived at the victim's house and overheard the conversations happening there. He captured a photo of the former wife through the air hole of the house. The victim's mother told a media outlet that although she had filed numerous complaints with the police in the past, no proper action was taken against the accused. She also mentioned that Prasanth had repeatedly threatened to kill her daughter.

The acid attack occurred yesterday morning at around 9.30 AM while the victim was undergoing treatment at an Ayurvedic hospital in Cheruvannur. The victim, Prabisha, a native of Balussery, was injured in the attack. The hospital staff who witnessed the incident rushed to her aid. Prabisha, who suffered severe burns to her face and chest, is undergoing treatment at the Burn ICU of the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. After the attack, Prasanth surrendered at the Meppayur police station, and his arrest was recorded. He will be presented in court today.

Three years ago, Prabisha filed for divorce due to Prasanth's drug addiction and the harassment she endured. Before the divorce, the victim and her family had filed complaints, and the Balussery police had registered a case. However, Prabisha’s mother stated that despite going to the police station multiple times, they did not receive justice.
