KOCHI: West Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose said that women empowerment is gaining relevance in an era where mothers are being pushed into old age homes.

"No matter how much knowledge one acquires, one will eventually realize that it will not be as good as what one's mother taught them. India is respected by the countries of the world because it is a land of those who grew up learning these lessons of love, security and sacrifice."

He was inaugurating the 'Power of Women Edition 2' conclave organized by the Kochi unit as part of the 114th anniversary celebrations of Kerala Kaumudi and releasing the book 'Amazing Women 114' at Palarivattom Hotel Renai.

"The children of mothers who have imparted invaluable life lessons through love and affection can lead not only the country but the world. Many countries are ruled by people of Indian origin. If the society, which has been taught that 'Is there a God other than mother, is there a temple bigger than her..' changes its mind, the consequences will be serious," he said.
