SHANGHUMUKHAM (THIRUVANANTHAPURAM): An Immigration Intelligence Bureau officer at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport was found dead after being hit by a train near Pettah. Megha (25), the only daughter of retired Govt ITI Principal Madhusoodanan and Palakkad Collectorate employee Nisha, who lived in Poozhikkad, Karakkakuzhi, Pathanamthitta, died. The body was found on the track between Pettah and Chakka at 9.15 am on Monday.

Following information from locals, the Pettah police arrived and conducted an inspection and identified the person after finding a Bureau of Civil Aviation ID card near the body.

Megha had returned from the airport yesterday morning after night duty.

The Jayanthi Janatha Express, which was heading to Thiruvananthapuram hit her. The loco pilot gave information that Megha, who was walking on the track while talking on the phone, suddenly lay down with her head across the track when she saw the train coming.

Since she is an IB officer, the Pettah police are conducting a detailed investigation. They will also check who she was talking to on the phone at the time of the incident. Pettah CI Premkumar said that they will collect information with the help of cyber police, as the phone was completely damaged after being hit by the train. The body was handed over to the relatives after the postmortem at the Medical College Hospital. The funeral will be held at 11 am on Tuesday in the house compound.

Megha, who completed her forensic science course, joined the Emigration IB a year ago. She last went home a month ago to participate in the festival at the Karakkakuzhi temple.
