Actress Mallika Sukumaran says that girls in Kerala should pay more attention to their dress code when they appear in public. She said that today's society has a generation that demands freedom in everything and that dress code is important. Mallika Sukumaran was sharing her experience while talking about women's empowerment at an event. She revealed these things during an interview granted to a YouTube channel.

'Today, many people define freedom in different ways. I have spoken about the way children dress in many places. I had spoken about women's empowerment. I asked them what do you mean by women's empowerment. Now things have reached the point of wanting freedom even in clothes. The way people dress for modesty has changed. That is their choice of course. I am not blaming them. But if someone sees it and comments about it, that is a big offence for these women. You cannot blame men for any of that. They will say that Mallika is misogynistic for saying this. They are making others say all this. We have a concept on everything. We have a view on how girls in Kerala should dress when they appear in a public forum. We need to think about all of that. Who we are as a family, how we were raised, where we studied, what our teachers say about us... all of these are important factors. We need to take all of that into account when we go to a public place," said Mallika Sukumaran.
