Zumba dance coming to Kerala schools; Education department to implement CM Pinarayi Vijayan's proposal

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister instructed the education department to make necessary arrangements to teach Zumba dance in state government schools. The proposal was made at a workshop convened by the Chief Minister regarding anti-drug awareness. Minister V Sivankutty endorsed the proposal and assured to implement it from the next academic year.

An updated training program will be prepared for teachers to understand behavioral abnormalities in children and strengthen teacher-student-parent relationships. The SCERT will examine this matter. Students and teachers will be provided with sports activities for physical and mental stimulation. Yoga or exercises will be organized. Counseling will be strengthened for children who are addicted to drugs and victims of violence.

Other instructions from CM:

Teacher-Student Vigilance Committee should be established in all schools.

Students' physical fitness should be developed.

Joint home charter to develop the child's personality.

Mentoring network including NSS, Scout and SPC volunteers

Tuition and coaching centers should be monitored.

SPC groups, health clubs and life skill training should be coordinated to overcome ragging, stress, etc.

Special monitoring team to look into student complaints in all colleges.

Friendly committees comprising teachers and alumni in schools

Medical check-up once every six months.

Special programs to reduce Children's mobile screen addiction.
