'Cannabis seized not from University hostel'; Kerala University Vice-Chancellor clarifies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohanan Kunnummal clarified that the cannabis seized from the college hostel in Thiruvananthapuram was not under the University of Kerala. The VC clarified this but appreciated the decision to conduct the raid. Dr Mohanan Kunnummal encouraged the idea of conducting more such raids in college hostels.

The VC also clarified the new norms in Kerala University, making students sign an affidavit promising they would give up drug use to continue studies in the university. This morning, the excise department conducted a surprise inspection at the men's hostel near the LMS Church in Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram. 20 gm cannabis were seized from one room. Students from various campuses under the university were staying here.

However, there are also reports about outsiders and graduates now living here permanently.
