NEW DELHI: The Congress is preparing for a major organisational overhaul this year. This was announced by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal after the extended working committee meeting held in connection with the 84th AICC session that began today in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The party's revival will start from the DCC level. DCC presidents will be given more powers. There is also a plan to make them invitees in the Central Election Committee. There has also been consideration to remove them from the candidature.

A five-member committee may be formed in all districts for the DCC president election. The AICC session to be held at the venue on the banks of the Sabarmati River tomorrow is likely to prepare guidelines.

The party will pass resolutions against the central government’s foreign policy, handling of China border issues, U.S. trade tariffs, and the Waqf Amendment Act tomorrow. A special resolution will highlight Gujarat’s backwardness in development across all sectors.

Today’s meeting was held at the Sardar Patel National Memorial. The meeting, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, was attended by Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party Leader Sonia Gandhi, KPCC President K. Sudhakaran, Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan, leaders Ramesh Chennithala, Kodikunnil Suresh, Shashi Tharoor, M.K.
