'The one who introduced me to Inquilaab': CPM Gen Secretary M A Baby meets comrade Vikraman

KOLLAM: "The local committee board we used to write on has been erased. How many walls have we written on together in Thekkecherry? How many posters have we put up?"

CPM General Secretary MA Baby reminisced old memories with V.K. Vikraman, who first introduced Baby to the slogan Inquilaab when he was an eighth-grade student at Prakkulam NSS School.

“During those times, it is certain that any KSF candidate would lose if contested elections. Vikraman’s duty was to find students who had no qualms about competing for KSF despite the surety of failure. It is thus that Vikraman found me out. Comrade Vikraman was also the one who took me to the first Students Federation conference," said M A Baby.

When M.A. Baby honored Vikraman with a red shawl, the old comrade’s eyes filled with tears. Then he said, 'Baby was smart back then. He was a brilliant debater who used to go to competitions and win prizes. We sorted out Baby to see if he could win at least one class to end KSU’s total domination.”

Before returning from Kollam after the CPM state conference, M.A. Baby had visited V.K. Vikraman at his Valuvila house in Prakkulam. Before that, Baby, accompanied by his wife Betty, visited Vikraman for Christmas with a cake.
