ALAPPUZHA: Hospital authorities have issued a statement regarding the death of a nine-year-old girl who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kayamkulam. The management of Ebenezer Hospital clarified that the girl, Adi Lakshmi, a native of Cheravally, died due to cardiac arrest. Adi Lakshmi passed away early this morning. However, the girl's relatives have raised allegations against the hospital. They claimed that Adi Lakshmi, who was admitted with a fever, had repeatedly shown signs of discomfort during treatment.
Adi Lakshmi was the daughter of Cheravally native Ajith and Sharanya. She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after developing a fever and stomach pain. According to the family, the hospital authorities had assured them that scanning and other tests did not reveal any complications. This morning, the girl was administered an injection. After falling asleep, she did not wake up. Doctors confirmed her death upon examination.
Following the incident, tensions flared at the hospital. Relatives of the child confronted the authorities, broke a hospital window, and created a commotion. The family has stated that they will file a complaint with the Health Minister and the District Medical Officer (DMO). The body has been shifted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Adi Lakshmi was a third-grade student at the Government Lower Primary School.
