Knocked out cigarette from his hand; 19-year-old injures police officers by attacking them with his helmet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 19-year-old man chased policemen who knocked out a cigarette from his hand and attacked them with his helmet. Ryan Bruno, a native of Kulathur Manvila, has been arrested. Two policemen have been injured in the incident.

Yesterday, the police noticed Ryan smoking in a public place in Trippadapuram, Kazhakoottam and stopped the vehicle and asked him to put out his cigarette. However, he refused to do so. The police then forcibly knocked out the cigarette from his hand and gave him a penalty. Enraged by this, Ryan stopped the police vehicle in Kazhakoottam. He then hit the CPO Ratheesh in the face with the helmet he was wearing. CPO Vishnu, who tried to stop him, also hit him with the helmet.

Ratheesh was hit in the face and Vishnu on the shoulder. Ryan was then arrested by other police officers. A case has been registered against him for obstructing duty and physical assault. The accused, who was produced in court, was remanded.
