17-year-old brother sexually assaulted his three sisters while mother was away for work; threatened to kill them if they disclosed abuse to anyone

PATHANAMTHTTA: A 17-year-old boy raped his three younger sisters, aged 13, 12, and 8. The incident took place in a hilly area of Pathanamthitta. The abuse occurred while their mother was away from home.

The children’s father had abandoned the family. The three girls were living and studying in an educational institution. Only the mother and the brother lived at home. The mother had previously been through multiple marriages. The 17-year-old brother was working.

After the school closed for vacation, the girls returned home. The very next day, when the mother went to work, the brother sexually assaulted all three. The eight-year-old girl was subjected to the most brutal assault. The brother threatened to kill them if they told anyone.

It was the eldest girl who revealed the abuse during the counselling at the Balika Sadanam. Following this, the authorities informed the police. The 17-year-old was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and later transferred to the Juvenile Home in Kollam. Detailed statements from all three girls have been recorded. It is unclear whether the girls had informed their mother about the abuse.
