THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “I have pleaded with people not to throw waste on the roadside. Nobody listened. It was the same dogs that devoured this waste that ripped apart my daughter in front of my eyes. I rushed her to the hospital but couldn’t bring her back.” Niya Faisal’s mother, Habira, wailed while coming out of the SAT Hospital.

Even people who tried to comfort her broke down inconsolably, hearing Habira's wails.

Seven-year-old Niya Faisal died early on Monday morning. While her daughter was battling death, Habira stood outside the hospital, firmly believing that her daughter would make it easily for the fact that she was vaccinated on time.
