THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, a mock drill will be conducted in all districts of Kerala state at 4 pm on Wednesday as per the central directive. The mock drill will be held across the country also tomorrow itself. This is part of the national-level preparedness for the safety of the people in case of war.

The central government has released a video on what to do when the siren sounds. The video says that 'India's security does not start from the border but from you'. "Turn off all lights, fans and all electrical appliances, shut the windows and draw the curtains. Even a single spark can guide the enemy. This isn't panic, this is preparedness," the video says.

Collectors are in charge in all districts. Chief Secretary Dr. A. Jayathilak informed that the public should cooperate and not worry. The last mock drill was conducted in the country before the India-Pakistan war in 1971.

Siren will sound

A warning siren will be sounded as part of the mock drill. Instructions related to this will be announced before that. It will also be made available on mobile.

Police, health, revenue, fire force, disaster management and other departments will participate in the drill.

The drill is being conducted to assess the civil defence systems in the states and address shortcomings. The evacuation of people safely is part of this.
