MUNNAR: The land and house in Ikka Nagar, formerly in the possession of ex-MLA S. Rajendran, were taken over by the Revenue Department under police protection. A board was erected stating that the house has been converted into the office of the Special Tahsildar for the Devikulam Land Assignment (LA).
The Revenue team, which started from Devikulam at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, completed the takeover procedures by around 8 a.m. The move followed the High Court’s recent rejection of a petition filed by Rajendran against the land acquisition. Subsequently, District Collector V. Vigneshwari issued the order to seize the property.
Rajendran is currently residing in a house located about 400 meters away from the seized property. The land acquired, including a house located in survey number 912 in MG Nagar near Ikka Nagar, measures 5.68 cents and was taken over under the leadership of Special Revenue Tahsildar M. Harikumar.
Authorities said the Tahsildar will decide whether the dilapidated building can be used as an office. It is reported that Rajendran is currently in Tamil Nadu in connection with his daughter’s wedding.
