THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Excise and police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident of minor girls being brought to a bar in Thiruvananthapuram city and being raped after being given alcohol. Minor girls were brought to a bar near Kazhakoottam Technopark and given alcohol. The Thumba police have arrested and remanded three accused in connection with the case.

The Excise is investigating matters including how the minor girls got entry into the bar. The girls had gone to the bar and consumed alcohol with men they had met through Instagram. Two female students under the age of 17 had gone to the bar. They were accompanied by two boys. They did not have enough money to pay the bill after staying in the bar for a long time.

The boys then called a friend of theirs to come to the bar. It is reported that they raped a drunken and unconscious girl in a vehicle. After the girls' relatives filed a complaint in the case, Thumba police arrested Abhilash (24), a native of Nedungad, Abin (18), a native of Kannanthura, and Faisal Khan (38), a native of Beemapally, and remanded them. The excise department will investigate further into matters, including allowing minor girls to enter the bar.
