NEW DELHI: Five Indian soldiers were martyred during Operation Sindoor, which was carried out by India to target terrorist camps in Pakistan. The confirmation came during a joint press conference held by senior officials from the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy, where they provided details of the military operation.
DGMO Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai paid tribute to the five fallen soldiers of the armed forces and the civilians who lost their lives. He stated that their sacrifices would always be remembered. Additionally, one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was also martyred during the operation.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has stated that at least 40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the strikes carried out by India. Additionally, around 100 terrorists, including top terrorist leaders, were eliminated during the operation. As part of Operation Sindoor, India targeted nine major terror camps located within Pakistan.
The military clarified that the operation was aimed solely at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. India also released visual evidence of the missile strikes, including video footage. Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai added that among those killed were top terrorists involved in the Kandahar hijacking and the Pulwama attack, including Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmad.
He further emphasised that the military action was planned with a clear objective: to eliminate both the masterminds and the operational bases of terrorism.
