'Strict action against private buses ignoring school students', says Minister V Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty in a presser warned of strict action against private buses denying travel access to school children. There are many complaints of private buses deliberately denying entry to school children.

The department has made extensive preparations ahead of the opening of schools on June 2. Precautionary instructions have been issued for private vehicles, public vehicles, and school buses in which children travel.

The safety of children crossing roads and railway lines and using water transport should be reviewed at the school level. The minister also announced that schools without a certificate from the local self-government body will not be allowed to operate.

🔸 The school and its surroundings should be cleaned before the start of classes

🔸 The number of children that can be carried in school buses should be limited

🔸 The fitness of the vehicle should be ensured by the Motor Vehicles Department

🔸 The time required for children to get on and off should be fixed.

🔸Traveling on the footboard of the bus should be strictly avoided

🔸Police clearance should be ensured for the employees of the vehicles

🔸Control of heavy vehicles should be made possible during school hours

Midday meal:

👉 Midday meals should be ensured from the day the school opens.

👉 The kitchen and utensils should be kept clean and disinfected

👉 Do not use expired food items

👉 Health card is essential for cooking workers
