BENGALURU: In a tragic incident, a groom died of a heart attack just a few minutes after tying the knot. The incident took place at the Nandikeshwara Kalyana Mantap in the town of Jamkhandi in the Bagalkote district. The deceased has been identified as Praveen (25), a native of Kumbarahall village in Jamakhandi.
According to eyewitnesses, Praveen complained of chest pain and collapsed just a few minutes after tying the mangalsutra around the bride's neck. Although he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, his life could not be saved. His body has been sent for a post-mortem.
A similar tragic incident had occurred earlier this February in Madhya Pradesh, when a 23-year-old woman died of a heart attack while performing a dance during a wedding's sangeet ceremony. The incident took place at a resort in the Vidisha district. The woman, Parinita Jain, a resident of Indore, had travelled to Vidisha to attend a relative's wedding. She collapsed and died while dancing during the haldi ceremony, which was attended by around 200 guests. The video of the incident later went viral on social media.
