PALAKKAD: A man and a woman were caught with one and a half kilos of MDMA in a drug bust in Kongad, Palakkad. The Kongad police arrested KH Sunil and KS Saritha, natives of Mankara. The drugs were being sold under the cover of the catering establishment they were running. The police said that the MDMA seized from them was brought to Palakkad and Thrissur from Bengaluru for retail sale.
Sunil and Saritha studied together. Even though Saritha got married and moved to Thrissur, she continued her friendship with Sunil. The two started a catering establishment in Kongad town a year ago. They were under the surveillance of the District Anti-Narcotics Cells (DANSAF) based on a secret information that drugs were being sold under the cover of this catering establishment. They had travelled together in Bengaluru and purchased drugs in bulk, brought them to Kerala and sold it in Palakkad and Thrissur districts.
The police had received information that they had gone to Bengaluru the previous day. When they returned in their vehicle this evening, they were caught red-handed by the police. After registering their arrest, both will be produced in court.
