KOCHI: A gang has threatened to kill a prominent cancer specialist in Kochi and his family over alleged medical malpractice. The letter states that they will kill him if the family of the deceased child is not paid Rs 8.25 lakh.

The letter was received by post from Mumbai on May 17 in the name of a group called Citizens for Justice. The doctor, who is a well-known doctor in the medical field, is also active in charity work. The city police have started an investigation based on the doctor's complaint.

The letter states that a girl died due to medical negligence by the doctor and the child's mother committed suicide later. The threatening letter states that the complaint filed by the child's father in this regard was taken as a quotation job. The police have received the pin code and post box number from which the letter was sent. They are also investigating whether anyone else has received a threatening letter in the same way.

Bitcoin and QR code

The letter demands that the money be paid in Bitcoin. For this, a Bitcoin link and QR code were provided in the letter. The investigation team will also seek the help of the cyber police.
