THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is set to become an automation hub for manufacturing automation technology and software for new-generation vehicles of global brands like BMW, Audi, and Benz. Eight companies have started operations in Technopark and Kinfra in this regard, and some more companies are expected to come. Discussions are underway with some global companies for this. With this, a huge industrial boom related to vehicle manufacturing is expected in Kerala.
Nissan Digital, D Space, Bluebinaries, Quest Global, UST, Tata Elxsi, Visteon, and Asia Technologies have started operations. The systems for climate control, gear, steering, and engine power settings in new-generation vehicles are manufactured using SDV (Software Designed Vehicle) technology. A delegation from the Industries Department has visited Germany, which is the main centre of this technology, and has also explored the possibility of cooperation.
