'Lack of quality leaders'; AICC Gen Sec K C Venugopal raises concern about grassroots leadership

ALAPPUZHA: AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal MP raised concerns about the organisation of youth congress in Kerala. Venugopal said it was not enough to have quality leaders just at the top organisational sections, and demanded equally quality leaders to come out from the foundational levels too.

Venugopal was inaugurating the state political training camp of the Youth Congress in Alappuzha. The booth committees and constituency committees of the Youth Congress should be strengthened within two months. Those who are smart should come as Congress candidates in the local body elections. KC said that smartness, according to Congress's definition, meant support from people.

Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil, who presided over the event, asked Congress leaders to be cautious while making unnecessary statements during television debates. Rahul's criticism came amidst the presence of top leaders.
