Wave of change in CPI; Sumalatha Mohandas elected unopposed as first woman district secretary

PALAKKAD: Sumalatha Mohandas (44) from Akathethara Thottapura has been elected as the CPI Palakkad District Secretary. Sumalatha is the first woman district secretary of the CPI in Kerala.

Sumalatha Mohandas, who has been working as a CPI state council member, district assistant secretary, Kerala Mahila Sangham national council member, vice president of Malampuzha Grama Panchayat, and member of the social policy department council, is known as an excellent organizer.

Sumalatha was elected as the secretary by the district executive meeting that was held on Sunday, and the subsequent meeting of the new district council representatives. Sumalatha Mohandas was elected unopposed as the first woman secretary of the Palakkad district, replacing KP Suresh Raj, who was the district secretary for the last three terms. Sumalatha, who won three consecutive terms as a people's representative from Malampuzha panchayat, is also a former president of Malampuzha panchayat.
