
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The District Collector declared a local holiday tomorrow (November 14) in observance of the Thirunaal of the Madre de Deus Church in Vettukad. The holiday will be applicable after 12 pm on Friday. The holiday will apply to all government offices and educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyattinkara and the taluks.
Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Anukumari IAS announced that the holiday will also apply to government offices and educational institutions in the village limits of Amburi, Vazhichal, Kallikkad, Ottashekarmangalam, Keezhattoor, Kulathummal, Maranallur, Malayinkeezhu, Vilavoorkal and Vilappil. However, there will be no change in previously scheduled exams.
Meanwhile, the keys of four houses built in connection with the feast at the Madre de Deus Church in Vettukad will be handed over tomorrow. The keys will be handed over during the feast day. Parish priest Fr. Y.M. Edison will perform the ceremony. In addition, medical assistance for cancer patients will also be distributed.
KSRTC will operate special services from various depots in the capital on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Parking facilities have been arranged at 9 centres. Bishop of Neyyattinkara Diocese Dr Selvarajan will preside over the Pontifical Mass to be held on the 21st. The circumambulation will be on the 22nd.
