Heavy rain continues unabated in Ernakulam, low-lying areas inundated

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rains inundated the low-lying areas in Kochi, affecting normal lives in Kerala's major city. Flights were diverted at Nedumbassery due to heavy rain. There was heavy rain in the Idukki-Adimali Irumpupalam area. Traffic congestion was reported on the Neriamangalam-Adimali road.

Two houses were damaged after a banyan tree fell in Palakkad Vallapuzha. There was a lightning strike in Thrissur. Trees were uprooted and fell in Irinjalakuda Padiyur. The roof of a house was blown away by the wind.

A landslide occurred in the Kattippara foothills of Thamarassery. Lightning strikes have been reported in Nadapuram and Vilangad. Trees fell on houses. Orange and yellow alerts are in place for the following rivers by the State Irrigation Department (IDRB) and the Central Water Commission (CWC) due to dangerously high water levels. People living on the banks of these rivers are advised to remain vigilant.
