Tourist dies after falling into gorge in Idukki

IDUKKI: A tourist died after falling into a gorge in Vagamon. The dead has been identified as Thobias (58) of Ernakulam. He slipped and fell into a gorge while descending at Chathanpara on the Vagamon Road. The incident happened at 9 pm last night.

After visiting Vagamon, he was returning home with four of his friends. He stopped his vehicle near Chathanpara and slipped while descending. Two units of fire force from Moolamattam and Thodupuzha arrived and after hours of efforts, the body was taken out at around 3 am this morning. The body is kept at the morgue of the district hospital.

One had died in a similar manner in Chathanpara during last Christmas.
