Youth collapses and dies while exercising at gym in Kochi

KOCHI: A youth collapsed and died while exercising at a gym in Kochi. The dead is Raj (42) of Mulanthuruthy Perumbilly Chalappuram. The incident happened Wednesday morning at 5.30 am. There was no one in the gym located at Palace Square in Mulanthuruthy at the time of the incident. Raj would occasionally come here to exercise.

He usually comes to the gym at 6 am. As he had some other engagements, he came opened the gym and started exercising. In the meanwhile, he collapsed in the gym at 5.26 am. The police have collected the CCTV visuals of it. The footage shows him walking for some time before he died, pressing his hands on his chest, and then sitting down. After sitting for about a minute, he collapsed.

Raj was found lying on the floor for about 20 minutes before anyone arrived. Although CPR was immediately given and taken to a private hospital in Arakkunnam, his life could not be saved. The distance from his house to the gym is only about one and a half kilometers. Raj's parents are Abraham and Gracy of Chalappuram. His wife Liji is a nurse abroad. Raj had a medical store earlier in Mulanthuruthy.
