KOCHI: More details have surfaced regarding the incident where a woman killed her boyfriend in Kothamangalam's Mathirappally by giving him pesticide. Police said that Chelad native Adeena murdered her boyfriend, Melethumal native Ansil, after she grew close to another man. There were also reports of financial disputes between the two.

The poison used was paraquat, the same pesticide linked to the Sharon murder case in Thiruvananthapuram. In Sharon’s case, it was mixed into herbal medicine, but police have not yet confirmed how Adeena gave the poison to Ansil. It has been confirmed that she purchased the pesticide from a shop in Chelad. Adeena reportedly maintained close relationships with several men, including Ansil. Ansil used to frequently visit her and stay at her house since she lived alone.

Recently, Adeena became involved with another man, who is currently in jail and expected to be released soon. According to the police, Adeena killed Ansil to prevent him from being an obstacle to this new relationship. On the 30th of last month, she invited Ansil to her house and poisoned him. Unconfirmed reports suggest Ansil had once threatened Adeena with a gun. Police have recovered the pesticide during a search at Adeena’s house.

Ansil, who had been receiving treatment in critical condition at Rajagiri Hospital, died yesterday evening. It is reported that, while undergoing treatment, Ansil gave a statement saying that his girlfriend Adeena had poisoned him. Police already had evidence that Adeena had purchased the pesticide, and after being taken into custody and interrogated, she confessed to the crime.

Adeena herself had called Ansil’s family to inform them that he was lying poisoned at her house. Police arrived and took him to the hospital, during which a relative accompanied them in the ambulance. Ansil reportedly told this relative that Adeena had deceived him and poisoned him. This testimony became crucial in the case. The relative also stated that Adina had once threatened Ansil’s mother, saying, “I will poison your son and kill him.”
