Semi-nude video calls with student; 35 year old school teacher arrested

MUMBAI: Teacher arrested for making semi-nude video calls with a minor student. A 35-year-old woman has been arrested in Navi Mumbai. The teacher has been charged under the POCSO act.

Police said that for the past few days, the teacher had been sending obscene messages to the student through social media, including Instagram. The semi-nude video calls started after this. The student informed his parents when this continued for a while. Following this, the parents filed a complaint with the police against the teacher.

The parents say the teacher's actions have left the student mentally traumatised. Police are investigating whether the teacher has behaved in this way with other students and have seized her mobile phone. The police are also checking her social media accounts.

The new case is surfacing weeks after a teacher was arrested in Mumbai for sexually abusing a 16-year-old student for almost a year. That married teacher was also arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
