THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr Haris Chirakkal has come forward with an explanation for the allegations levelled by Medical College Principal Dr P K Jabbar and Superintendent Dr Sunil Kumar that there was something unusual in finding the boxes in the room. The doctor said the nephroscope sent to repair the snag was brought back and it was in the room and that the device was demanded back for not having money. Dr Haris's explanation was after the press meet convened by the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Principal and Superintendent.
Dr Haris responded to the arguments in the press meet in the social media group of medical officers. The faulty nephroscope was sent to Kochi to repair it. That was brought back. The 10–15-year-old nephroscopes were sent to the company in Ernakulam two months ago to see if they could be repaired in any way before being disposed of. Dr Haris said that this is what was found during the search.
Dr Jabbar called the press meet in response to Dr Haris' accusation that his room was locked with a different lock and that was deliberately trying to trap and personally attack him.
Dr Jabbar said in the press conference that the investigation committee had found that an equipment was missing from the urology department. Based on this, last Saturday, the DME searched many places but could not find it. As per the order, the room of Dr Haris, the head of the department, should also be searched, so searched in the presence of Dr Tony of the urology department. The key to the room was taken from Tony.
Dr Tony showed the device moscilloscope in a box. Since I felt that a detailed inspection was required, I went to Dr Haris's office again yesterday. The DME team was also present. Along with the small box that I saw the day before, there was also a large box there. It was not there the day before. There were some bills in it. It was the bill for the purchase of a moscilloscope on August 2. A nephroscope was also found in another box.
