Necklace worth Rs 1.25 lakh, Maifarin used code language to talk to her lover; husband's murder not for gold but due to extramarital affair

SONIPAT: Wife along with her lover killed the husband, who had discovered their extramarital affair, attacked the wife and warned her. The husband Shahnawaz (28) was stabbed to death. The police have arrested Maifarin and her lover Tasavvur and his friend Shoaib. The deceased Shahnawaz hails from Shamli, Uttar Pradesh.

The police said that Maifarin and Tasavvur planned the murder using secret codes. Shahnawaz and Maifarin were on their way to Issapur Khurgan village in Shamli on a bike with a necklace worth Rs 1.25 lakh, which they had bought from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh. Shahnawaz was stopped by some assailants who stabbed Shahnawaz in the neck with a knife and escaped with the bike and the necklace.

Shahnawaz and Maifarin left the house together. Police said that Maifarin immediately called her lover and informed him of her location with Shahnawaz through a code. Codes such as 'Manzil Aane Wali Hai', 'Cross the bridge', 'Just wait for a while' were used by the accused. 'Manzil Aane Wali Hai' meant Shahnawaz and Maifarin were near Khurgan Road. 'Just wait for a while' meant the bike was about to reach Khurgan road. 'Cross the bridge', meant to stay behind the bike. Tasavvur and Shoaib followed Shahnawaz and Maifarin via the code words and committed the crime as soon as they reached Khurgan Road.

Shahnawaz caught Maifarin talking to her boyfriend on the phone three days ago. The accused said that Shahnawaz had beaten Maifarin following the fight and that Maifarin immediately informed Tasavvur about the incident over the phone.

Maifarin cried several times in the hospital and pretended to be unconscious following Tasavvur's death. The police were suspicious of the woman's behaviour from the beginning itself. The woman was also initially unwilling to give a statement about the attack. It was only after police questioning that Maifarin confessed to having been in a relationship with Tasavvur, a brick kiln employee, for six months. Phone records were also crucial in proving the crime.
