NEW DELHI: In a tragic incident, five people were killed after the roof of a Dargah near the historic Humayun's tomb in Delhi collapsed amid heavy rains. Three people and two men lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries. The accident occurred around 4 p.m. when 25 to 30 devotees were inside the dargah. Upon receiving the information, the fire department arrived at the scene, initiated rescue operations, extracted the victims, and transported them to the hospital. Authorities fear more people may still be trapped under the rubble, and search operations are underway.
The dargah, known as Dargah Sharif Patte Shah, is situated within a complex that includes Humayun’s Tomb, which was constructed in the mid-16th century. The tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun is situated near Nizamuddin in Delhi. This place, built in the mid-1500s, is a popular tourist destination. The red sandstone tomb was designed by Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son Sayyid Muhammad. In 1993, Humayun’s Tomb was included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites.
