KOCHI: A viper fell on the body of a three-year-old girl at an Anganwadi in Kochi. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at the Illathumughal Smart Anganwadi near the NGO Quarters in Kakkanad. The child escaped without being bitten. While she was washing her face after having lunch, the viper fell on the girl from the top of the building. The staff, who rushed to the spot after hearing her screams rescued the child by driving it away.

The Anganwadi is functioning in its own building of the Thrikkakara Municipality. There are six children here. The child was taken to the Thrikkakara Cooperative Hospital for examination. After confirming of no snake bite, the child was sent with parents. Locals said there are poisonous snakes here as the old government quarters near the building where the anganwadi is located are covered with grass.
