Expatriate businessman kidnapped by gang from Malappuram: Rs 1.5 crore demanded as ransom

MALAPPURAM: An expatriate businessman from Pandikkad was reportedly kidnapped by an unknown gang from the town. A complaint reached the police on Wednesday. Shamir (36) was abducted by a group near Winners Ground in the city.

Shamir runs a business chain in the UAE and lives with his family abroad. The incident took place on Tuesday night. CCTV footage shows that Shamir, who was returning home from the town on a bike, was abducted by a gang who arrived in an Innova car. Shamir, a businessman in Dubai, arrived in Kerala on the 4th of this month for vacation.

The police said that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Rs. 1.5 crore from the family. There are indications that the police have obtained information about the accused and have found the place where Shamir is hidden.
