Chevrolet Beat car crash in front of General Hospital; auto driver who was on ventilator after sustaining injuries dies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One of the four people who were seriously injured in the accident when a Chevrolet Beat car ran onto the pavement during driving lessons has died. Muhammed Shafi (42), a native of Chullimanoor Vanchuvam, died this evening. He was an auto driver at the stand in front of the General Hospital.

Shafi was admitted to the Medical College Hospital at 12:30 pm on the 10th in a very critical condition. He had serious head and spine injuries and internal bleeding. Since the head injury was serious, he was admitted to the neuro department and underwent emergency surgery. Shafi was then put on a ventilator in the multi-speciality intensive care unit. Shafi's condition deteriorated, and he died this evening while he was under observation by expert doctors at the Medical College Hospital.

The inquest proceedings have been completed and the body has been shifted to the morgue. The condition of two of the injured remains critical. Kannammoola native Surendran, who suffered a serious head injury, underwent surgery again the other day. Muttatharanative Sivapriya, is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. Anjaneyan, a native of Sastamkotta, Kollam, and an employee of the housekeeping department at the S.P. Fort Hospital in Eanchakkal, has been shifted to the ward. The hospital authorities stated that the three injured are still under the observation of doctors from various departments at the Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred while the uncle was training his nephew to drive. The accident was caused by the nephew pressing his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake. The accident was caused by the Chevrolet Beat car KL- 43- B 6638. The car was driven by A.K. Vishnunath, a native of Valiyavila, Vattiyoorkavu. His uncle Vijayan was providing driving training.
