PUNE: The 17-year-old boy, who was involved in the Pune Porsche car crash that killed two IT employees, has submitted a 300-word essay on road safety complying with the bail conditions of the Juvenile Justice Board. The accident took place on May 19 in the Kalyani Nagar region in Pune, Maharashtra. According to the police, the 17-year-old drove the Porsche car under the influence of alcohol and hit the software engineers who were on their way home on a two-wheeler.

The 17-year-old used his father's Porsche Taycan car to go to the pubs with his friends. The police also found that the boy had spent Rs 48,000 in two hours at Cosie and Black Marriott pubs. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board. Later in the day, the JJB ordered that the boy should be kept under the care and supervision of his parents and grandfather. It also asked the minor to write a 300-word essay on road safety. However, the public raised severe criticism against the JJB's decision to give a lenient punishment to the boy despite causing a serious car accident.

The boy's father and grandfather had asked the driver, who accompanied the boy, to take the blame for the accident. They even abducted the driver's family members for this. Both the boy's father and grandfather were arrested in this case and later released on bail. The boy, who was granted bail on the very day of the accident, was later moved to the observation home following a strong protest by the public. Later, he was sent to his relative's house following the High Court verdict. However, the police have decided to approach the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict.
