THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has taken an unusual step to protect ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. Two reports submitted by former State Police Chief Darvesh Sahib- one related to the Thrissur Pooram disruption and another based on a complaint by ADGP P Vijayan- have been sent back without action.

The government has directed the current State Police Chief Ravada Chandrasekhar to re-examine the matters and provide a fresh opinion. Sending back reports prepared by a senior IPS officer who was then the Police Chief is considered an unusual step.

At the same time, Ajith Kumar is set to move the High Court today, challenging the Vigilance Court’s decision to reject a “clean chit” report submitted by the Vigilance in the disproportionate assets. The government is also preparing to file an appeal, seeking the removal of remarks made against the Chief Minister in the court order. The court had earlier criticised the fact that the Chief Minister had approved the report before it was filed.
