LAHORE: India and Pakistan have been at odds for several years. As a result, many believe that citizens of the two countries also carry the same hostility towards each other. A British travel vlogger recently set out to test this assumption, and his video is now going viral on social media.
In the video, the vlogger, Alex, can be seen walking through the streets of Lahore, Pakistan, wearing an Indian cricket jersey.
“Shall we see how people react when I walk through the streets of Pakistan wearing an Indian cricket jersey?” Alex asks at the start of the video. He shared it with the caption: “Is it safe to wear an Indian cricket shirt in Pakistan?”
As Alex walks along, passersby are seen simply glancing at him. When he stops and talks to some of the locals, they respond warmly. At one point, a child even invites him to eat food. In his conclusion, Alex remarks that nothing negative happened and that it felt safe to walk around Pakistan in an Indian jersey.
The video has already attracted over 12 million views and thousands of comments. Some of the notable reactions include: “Don’t try this experiment in India,” “It’s your skin colour that protected you,” and “They probably didn’t realise it was an Indian jersey.”
