THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister K B Ganesh Kumar had received widespread criticism after he stopped a KSRTC bus for inspection after finding plastic bottles stocked inside the vehicle. The bus driver, Jaimon Joseph, was suspended earlier today. The minister has now come forward with a detailed explanation regarding the matter.
Ganesh Kumar said that strict action will be taken if anyone dumps plastic bottles or waste inside KSRTC buses, and that he will not back down, no matter what others say. “Tons of waste have been removed from KSRTC buses. If anyone dumps plastic bottles inside a bus, they will be caught and strict action will be taken. No one needs to make a fuss about it on Facebook or WhatsApp. As long as I am the minister, there will be strict action,” he said.
He added that waste bins have been installed in all Super Fast buses, and all new buses are equipped with them. “If a driver keeps bottles on the dashboard, action will be taken against him. Action will also be taken against those who fail to inspect such vehicles properly. A mistake is a mistake, no matter who does it,” the minister said.
Ganesh Kumar also questioned, “When KSRTC employees were paid their salaries on the first of the month, none of these critics were around. Where were they then?”
