Native of Alappuzha bags Onam Bumper of Rs 25 crore, produces ticket in bank

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A native of Alappuzha has won the first prize of lottery department’s Thiruvonam Bumper of Rs 25 crore. Sharath S Nair of Thuravoor won the first prize. He bought the ticket from Nettoor. He is an employee of Nippon Paints. He produced the ticket at the SBI Branch in Thaikkattussery, Thuravoor.


The ticket that won the first prize was sold by lottery agent M T Latheesh of Nettoor. Latheesh bought 800 tickets from Attingal Bhagavathy Agency’s centre in Palakkad and sold it. After deducting tax and commission, he will get Rs 15.75 crore. Out of Rs 25 crore, Rs 2.5 crore is agency commission. Rs 6.75 crore should be paid as income tax to the central government. At Rs 56 per ticket, the center and Kerala will get GST. 75 lakh tickets were sold this time. Rs 40.32 crore each will get as GST. Rs 15 crore will also be received as tax on other prizes.
