‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1', written and directed by Rishab Shetty, is continuing its dream run at the box office. The film is receiving overwhelming responses from the audience across the globe. Made at a budget of 125 crore, the film has collected nearly 290 crore within a few days of its release.
Actress Rukmini Vasanth, who appeared as Princess Kanakavathi in Kantara, is also receiving widespread applause for her performance in the film. Rukmini made her film debut in 2019 through the Kannada film Birbal. Recently, social media has been abuzz with discussions about her background and family.
Rukmini is the elder daughter of Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, the first soldier from Karnataka to be awarded the Ashok Chakra, and Subhashini Vasanth, a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and social activist. Colonel Vasanth Venugopal was martyred in 2007 while leading an operation against infiltrators in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. Rukmini has often spoken in interviews about her father's service and the family's loss.
Rukmini completed her education at Army Public School, Air Force School, and the Centre for Learning in Bengaluru before entering the film industry. Recently, she appeared opposite Sivakarthikeyan in the Tamil film Madharaasi, released on September 5.
