THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renowned film producer and writer P. Stanley has passed away at the age of 81. He died of a heart attack in Thiruvananthapuram. He was the producer of several notable films, including the Padmarajan classic 'Thoovanathumbikal'.
Apart from Thoovanathumbikal, he also produced many notable films such as Mochanam, Varadakshina, and Theekkali. Stanley also distributed films like Rajan Paranja Kadha, Tholkaan Enikku Manasilla, and Wayanadan Thampan.
He spent nearly three decades in Madras working in the film industry. Stanley had worked as an assistant director and scriptwriter with legends like A. Vincent and Thoppil Bhasi. He served as an assistant director in about 20 films, including Velutha Kathreena, Enippadikal, Asuravithu, Nadhi, Thulabharam, Ashwamedham, Nizhalattam, Nagarame Nandi, Priyamulla Sophia, Anaavaranam, and Ponnumpuvvum.
Born in 1944, Stanley was the son of Policarp, one of the early communist leaders from Kollam. After undergoing heart surgery in 1990, he settled in Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram. He was the director and Vastu consultant of a construction firm named Vasthukalapeedam.
He was also a writer, with several novels to his credit, including Kanalvazhiyile Nizhalukal, Manthrikkappurathinte Kadha, Pranayathinte Suvishesham, Hridayathinte Avakashikal, and Indraprasthathinte Ithihasam.
His short story collection Oru Idathaaru Kaamuki, the science book Vasthu Sameeksha, and memoirs such as Ormakkalude Vellithira, Nilavum Nakshathrangalum, and Aayussinte Adikurippukal also gained much appreciation.
