Nationwide SIR: EC asks CEOs to ramp up preparations, schedule to be announced later

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission is intensifying efforts to implement the nationwide voter list revision. As part of this, the Election Commission directed the State Election Officers (CEOs) in the states and union territories to complete preparations for conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The schedule for the SIR will be announced later.

The proposal was made at a two-day meeting of CEOs in Delhi. The Commission, in a press release, said they had also interacted directly with CEOs of states soon going to polls, including Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and West Bengal. The meeting also reviewed the progress in comparing the number of voters as per the latest completed SIR with the current voter list of all states and union territories.
