THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MB Rajesh has raised questions with opposition leader VD Satheesan and experts who criticised the declaration of Kerala as an extreme poverty-free state. "Since May 2021, the government and local bodies have been carrying out these activities together with utmost care and determination. The accomplishment achieved through these 53 months of hard work was announced yesterday. Didn't the opposition even know that each local body had given final approval to the list approved by the Gram Sabha?" MB Rajesh asked in a post shared on Facebook.
He also asked whose fault it was that the opposition leaders and MLAs were unaware of all this, even in the local bodies ruled by the opposition. "Is it polite to shout 'fraud' like someone who woke up from a sleep the day before the announcement, after not raising any of the criticisms being raised presently in the Assembly on a single occasion?" asked M.B. Rajesh.
Minister MB Rajesh asked whether the opposition had raised their opinions or differences of opinion anywhere when the Chief Minister announced the plan of an extreme poverty-free state as the first cabinet decision, or when the government issued a comprehensive guideline explaining the criteria and determination process for determining extreme poverty as an order.
The minister's final question to the opposition leader is whether the declaration that all local bodies ruled by the opposition are free from extreme poverty is also pure fraud. MB Rajesh's post ends with the sentence, "Since I have answered the questions you raised, I expect answers to these questions as well, and I hope they will not be ignored."
