Family friend collapses, dies after meeting CM Pinarayi Vijayan at Kannur guest house

KANNUR: A family friend who had come to Kannur Guest House to meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan collapsed and died on Monday. The victim was identified as M.N. Ratheendran (80), a former employee of Chovva Spinning Mill, near Thottada JTS.

Ratheendran had come to meet the Chief Minister at the Kannur guest house at 3 pm on Monday. After talking to Ratheendran, the Chief Minister left the guest house to attend the book launch ceremony of E.P. Jayarajan. After this, Ratheendran was about to return from the guest house.

He collapsed while coming down from the top floor of the guest house. Those present at the guest house took him to the nearby military hospital and then to the district hospital, but his life could not be saved. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reached the district hospital after learning about the death. Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran also accompanied him.

Ratheendran's wife: Sabitha. Children: Shajin Ratheendran, Shafna Joshith. Son-in-law: Joshith. The funeral will be held at 12 noon today at the Payyambalam crematorium.
