Actress and model Jaseela Parveen has shared a post about the physical and mental abuse she suffered from her ex-partner. Jaseela revealed that she had an argument with her then-partner, Don Thomas Vithayathill, on New Year's Eve, and he violently assaulted her. "He kicked me in the stomach, punched me in the face, hit my head on the floor, dragged me, bit me on the armpit and thigh. He hit me hard on the face with a metal bangle, which resulted in a cut on my upper lip," Jaseela added.

"I want to share this not for sympathy but because I need support and guidance. After the attack, I cried and begged him to take me to the hospital. But he didn't listen. When I tried to call the police, he snatched the phone. Later, he himself took me to the hospital. When I got there, he lied to the doctors that I had fallen down the stairs. Later, I was referred to Sunrise Hospital. There, I underwent plastic surgery."

"He did not pay any attention to me even after that. His harassment continued. I was isolated, in pain, mentally and physically broken. So I filed a complaint with the police online. No action was taken. On January 14, I went in person and filed a complaint. Even then, there was no immediate action. It was only after he applied for anticipatory bail that the police came for inspection and registered an FIR.

"The case is ongoing. The charge sheet has been filed. My injuries are serious. The evidence and medical records are all clear. But the opposing party has filed a petition in the High Court to quash the case, claiming a settlement that I never agreed to. They have been delaying the case for months by repeatedly asking for time. At this stage, I am appearing in court alone because I cannot afford to hire a lawyer. I did not even get a chance to speak during the hearing yesterday. I felt like I had become invisible in the courtroom. This was not a minor dispute. This was not a minor injury. It was brutal violence.

"As an artist, my face is my identity. I could not work for months. I went through physical and mental trauma, treatment, financial loss, and even depression. But the person who did this is moving on with his life, hiring senior lawyers and delaying the process. This is all I ask for. Let the case go to trial, let the evidence speak, let the truth come out. If necessary, I am ready to argue and defend my case myself. All I want is justice. If any lawyer or advocate here is willing to guide me. Especially, on what to do to make sure that the petition to quash the case is dismissed and the case goes to trial. I will be very grateful. Please stand with me. This fight of mine is not just for me. It is for every victim who is silenced by the system," Jaseela wrote.
