Airbag didn't deploy in crash, car shattered; More details of Kochi car accident

KOCHI: More details have emerged in the death of students after a car crashed into a metro pillar in Kochi city. The front and side of the car were completely damaged by the incident. The alloy wheels were thrown out in the impact of the crash.

Despite the crash, the airbags failed to deploy. The tragic accident occurred near Changampuzha Park in Elamakkara, Edappally, at around 3:30 am today.

The Swift car coming from Aluva lost control and crashed into a metro pillar. Alappuzha natives Haroon Shaji (25) and Muneer (25) died in the accident. Adhil (25) and Yakub (25), who were inside the car, suffered serious injuries. Speeding or the driver falling asleep is believed to have caused the accident. Traffic officials said that it was an altered vehicle that got involved in the crash.
