KOCHI: AMMA president Shwetha Menon has reaffirmed that the actors’ association stands firmly with the survivor in the actress assault case. Speaking to the media, she said she was not satisfied with the punishment awarded to the six accused who were found guilty and added that, in her personal opinion, the verdict should be challenged through an appeal. She also clarified that there have been no discussions within the organisation about reinstating actor Dileep.
“I am glad the accused have been punished. The survivor is a big inspiration for many women in our industry. My personal view is that the case should be taken up in appeal, and that is also the survivor’s request,” Shwetha Menon said.
Addressing questions on whether Dileep would be taken back into AMMA, she stated that no such talks had taken place. “AMMA is a charity organisation and it operates under specific legal procedures. We all stand with the survivor. Every woman, and every Malayali, is with her,” she added.
