SRINAGAR: A massive search operation has been launched after a Pakistani drone crossed the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The security forces have intensified the search after it was found that packets containing explosives, weapons, and drugs were dropped in the area. According to official sources, the drone violated Indian airspace in the Khadi Karmada area of Poonch early this morning and remained inside the Line of Control for more than five minutes before leaving.
There are also indications that goods including IEDs, ammunition and drugs were dropped during this time. This has raised serious security concerns. The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered the abandoned items from Khadi Karmadi and nearby areas. Pictures and videos of the items dropped by Pakistani drones have come out.
The incident comes as security measures have been tightened across Jammu and Kashmir as part of the New Year celebrations. With this, the security forces have intensified surveillance in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir, border areas, forest areas and interior areas. The security forces launched a strict check following specific intelligence inputs. Based on information about the presence of two terrorist groups in the Doda-Kishtwar forest area, the security forces had cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the Keshwan-Chatru valley. The army has deployed drones and other aerial surveillance equipment to track down the terrorists and monitor the area.
